During emergency EVAR, an
intra-aortic occlusive balloon
in the descending thoracic or
suprarenal aorta can sometimes
be used in patients with very low
blood pressure, to allow the
anesthetists to adequately
resuscitate the patient. The
balloon may be placed and
inflated under direct fluoscopy.
This is called resuscitative
endovascular balloon occlusion of
the aorta (REBOA).
