PREFACE
Preface
After many years of hard work and planning, Vascular Surgery is now for-
mally recognized by the Medical Council as a separate independent Spe-
cialty for the Specialist Register (S64). This is very good news and have
brought us in line with international standards and training.
In the large volume spanning almost 90 pages, we shared out experiences
in managing some rare conditions, such as a custom fenestrated graft for
a low lying renal artery, a brachial artery aneurysm, and iatrogenic ab-
dominal punctures. There are also the seldom seen but nevertheless life
and limb threatening vascular trauma - in the trunk and the limbs, both
penetrating and blunt. We presented the rare case of long term EVAR
complications leading to rupture, again showcasing the limitations of end-
ovascular interventions in terms of durability.
To complete there is also the usual technical adjuncts of treating lower
limb diseases using newer balloons, and CO2 angiograms, and the many
clinical presentations of chronic venous insufficiency, including the latest
trend in the application of pharmaco-mechanical thrombectomy in treat-
ing acute deep vein thrombosis.
I hope the many interesting clinical scenarios and devices shown here will
continue to stimulate your interest in this very exciting specialty.
