The plan was to proceed to open exploration of the below-knee popliteal artery,
attempted open puncture of the below-knee popliteal artery with a view to angioplasty/
stent, and if not successful, proceed to a femoropopliteal bypass. Pre-operatively, we
mapped the level of the occluded artery (red marks) and also mark the long saphenous
vein to be harvested for bypass conduit (blue dotted lines).
