SENTINEL LYMPH NODE
Sentinel lymph node (SLN) is the
hypothetical first lymph node or group
of nodes draining a cancer.
Proponents of sentinel lymph node biopsy
(SLNB) believe that if the SLN is negative for
malignancy, regional nodal dissection can be
spared, which in turn reduces operative time
and morbidity.
