Salivary glands are a subtype of exocrine

                     glands i.e. glandular structures that

release their products onto an epithelial

surface via ductal systems. This differs

                     from endocrine glands e.g.

adrenal and thyroid glands, that release

                     their products directly into the

                     bloodstream. Source: Dreamstime.com
