A 60-year old lady who had previous neck radiotherapy for nasopharyn-
geal cancer. She developed a severe (90%) stenosis of her left common
carotid artery. Radiation induced carotid stenosis occur in atypical
sites (common carotid artery) corresponding with the radiation field.
Due to fibrosis and risk of open carotid endarterectomy radiation in-
duced carotid stenosis is one of the conditions best treated by carotid
stenting.
