The patient was taken to emergency
EVAR. Access was difficult due to the
large hematoma on the left frank. The
left internal iliac artery was first embo-
lized with coils. A bifurcated EVAR was
then performed.
Although the operation was success-
ful, the patient did not survive. He died
from a combination of complications of
prolonged hypotension, blood loss, and
sepsis leading to multi-organ failure.
Ruptured iliac aneurysms has a very high
mortality, often due to obscure symptoms
and delayed presentation.
