Open AAA Repair
A patient in his late 60s has a 5.2cm infrarenal aortic aneurysm. In view of his relative
younger age with ectatic common iliac arteries, open repair was offered, on the
presumption that open repair may be more durable than endovascular repair in the long
run, with less re-intervention and less requirement for serial follow up CT scans (less

radiation and contrast exposure).
