Atheroembolism

                                                                         Aof the lower limbs and buttocks, is

                                                                         a complication of endovascular inter-
                                                                         vention.  It is usually a result of exces-
                                                                         sive catheter manipulation dislodging
                                                                         multiple yet abundant small pieces of
                                                                         “athero” emboli flushed distally to the
                                                                         lower limb arteries.  If extensive this
                                                                         can lead to tissue loss.  Management
                                                                         is generally conservative, sometimes
                                                                         requiring anti-coagulation.
