There was partial opacification of the axillary and proximal left brachial artery, but abrupt brachial arteries (arrowed).
cut off in the distal brachial artery.
We should all be aware of the nomenclature of the upper limb arteries. On the right, the
subclavian artery is from the innominate artery; and on the left, it derives directly from the
aortic arch. The subclavian artery travels laterally towards the axilla. At the lateral border of
the first rib, it is renamed the axillary artery. At the lower border of the teres major muscle,
the axillary artery is renamed the brachial artery. As the brachial artery enters the
antecubital fossa underneath the bicipital aponeurosis (relationship is median nerve,
brachial artery, and biceps tendon from medial to lateral), it bifurcates into the radial and
ulnar arteries.
