PREFACE
                                                                                   Preface

Once again regular clinical teaching was disrupted by hospital Covid re-

strictions. While our elective operating sessions were cut due to staff
sickness and conversion of Covid wards, this crisis appeared thankfully to

             be short termed.

During this difficult time our vascular patients continue to present with

acute problems and we have a period of increased emergency operating
activity due to severe shortage of operating time.

To make up for lost clinical experience, we will revert to a monthly pub-
lication schedule. This month we have treated a number of rare acute

vascular emergencies: a collection of mycotic aortic pseudoaneurysms at
different (and usually challenging) locations, aorto-gastric and carotid-es-

ophageal fistulas, to showcase the diversity of vascular surgery. Also in-
cluded is the endovascular management of a high profile vascular trauma.

Also included are a number of latest advances and trends in treating pre-
viously untreatable conditions, such as mechanical thrombectomy for

acute deep vein thrombosis, and newer endografts for challenging anato-
             my.

I hope trainees and students can continue to enjoy this virtual experience
             in difficult times.
