Angiogram showed a pseudoaneurysm arising
from a branch of the splenic artery (blue arrow), Embolization performed with coil and glue
with extravasation to the pancreas (i.e. active
bleeding, red arrow) Transarterial embolization with coils or glue is the standard treatment of
splenic artery aneurysms that are symptomatic or reach a certain size (usually
2cm maximum diameter). Smaller, incidental splenic artery aneurysms are
usually observed. Open surgical repair or splenectomy are alternatives that are
seldom indicated.
