Venous ulcers are shallow with sloping edges. In this instance, the base is healthy and
clean with granulation tissue.
Venous Ulcers
Venous ulcers develop at the gaiter areas around the ankle, on the background of
pigmentation and lipodermatosclerosis. There may not be any visible varicose veins, and
we need a venous duplex to rule out deep vein incompetence.
