PREFACE
Preface Arch Saccular Aneurysm
In this 9th volume of Virtual Vascular we concentrate on treatment of chal-
lenging aortic diseases, including aortic arch and thoracoabdominal / supra-
renal aneurysms, and aortic infections. This outlines the process involved in
planning and decision making of open versus endovascular treatment, taking
into consideration the patient’s Co-morbidities, and aortic anatomy. This is a
particularly intriguing subject in view of the rapid development of advanced
endovascular devices.
If you are interested in the latest developing of treating aortic diseases, do
join us online in the Virtual Congress, Aortic Asia, on 14-15 May 2021. Regis-
tration this time is free.
For students who has not already noticed, the last OSCE exam question was
answered in this volume as usual. We also provide two new clinical examina-
tion video to explain how you should perform the tourniquet test for varicose
veins, and how to perform a simple hand-held doppler for venous insufficien-
cy. These are important examination topics.
Of course to conclude, we included the everyday endovascular versus open
bypass for peripheral arterial diseases, as well as medical management of
vasculitis.
