Surgical excision
To achieve the best cure rate, up to 95%
Excision with adequate circumferential and
deep margins
BCC: 2-3mm
SCC
4mm for low-risk tumours
6mm for high-risk tumours, i.e. in sun-
exposed areas like lip or ear, size >2cm,
>4mm thick, poor differentiation, perineural
involvement and host immunosuppression
Specimen must be oriented so as to assess
margins status
Frozen section to ensure margin clearance
before reconstruction
