The advantages of robotic-assisted surgery include:
1. Improved visualization via three-dimensional
high-definition image at the surgeon’s console.
2. Angled scopes to further improve visualization
and help the surgeon navigate around corners
as is often needed in tongue base surgery.
3. Articulated robotic arms add degrees of
freedom to surgical movements.
4. Translation of the surgeon’s hand to scaled-
down movements of the robotic arms which
filters any tremors and provides more
accurate dissection.
