Deep Vein Thrombosis
A 43-year old lady presented
with a 4-day history of left lower
limb swelling to HKU-SZH and an
acute DVT was diagnosed.
A catheter based PMT (pharma-
comechanical thrombectomy)
was attempted as a relatively
novel treatment for DVT.
The advantages of early re-ca-
nalization of a thrombosed prox-
imal deep vein are early relief of
symptoms, preservation of valve
function, and reduce the risk of
post-thrombotic syndrome from
either chronic venous occlusion
or venous insufficiency.

Right side first via the GSV to
act as a protection against pul-
monary embolism, in place of a
temporary IVC Filter.
