This is a patient with a IV cannula removed at the dorsum of the hand after
use. It was noted that the removed cannula is not complete and part of it is
suspected to be retained in the patient’s vein.
This has to be removed as it is a foreign body that may cause future infection
and thrombophlebitis. There is also a risk of proximal migration to the deep
vein and central circulation along with the flow of the blood.
