Delayed Presentation of Acute Limb Ischemia
Ms Lam is a 88 years old lady. She complained of a 4-day history of right calf pain
and coldness. She is a non-smoker and non-drinker, with past history of obesity,
knee osteoarthritis, poorly controlled diabetes and hypertension, but no prior
history of claudication or rest pain.
Physical examination showed absent right femoral, popliteal and distal pulses. The
left leg pulses were all present. The right leg was tender, pale and cold, with profound
paraesthesia and paralysis. The abdomen was soft with no pulsatile mass.
