Digital Gangrene
Why does this gentleman have digital gangrene?
Differential Diagnosis:
1. Emboli e.g. from atrial fibrillation/post myocardial infarction/aneurysm/infective
endocarditis
2. Thrombosis, e.g. after radial artery puncture for blood gas or arterial line
3. Vasoconstriction e.g. from high dose inotropes
4. Peripheral vascular disease does not commonly affect the upper limbs as compared to
the lower limbs
