                                                                                                                              Open repair was chosen as the treatment for this patient for anatomical reasons.

                                                                                                                              The aortic aneurysm was opened and replaced with a prosthetic bifurcated graft
                                                                                                                              from the infrarenal aorta to both common iliac artery bifurcations.  This has a higher
                                                                                                                              risk of mortality and systemic complications, blood loss, and ICU stay, but has

                                                                                                                              superior durability and lower secondary intervention rates compared to
                                                                                                                              endovascular repair.
