Open repair was chosen as the treatment for this patient for anatomical reasons.

The aortic aneurysm was opened and replaced with a prosthetic bifurcated graft
from the infrarenal aorta to both common iliac artery bifurcations. This has a higher
risk of mortality and systemic complications, blood loss, and ICU stay, but has

superior durability and lower secondary intervention rates compared to
       endovascular repair.
