Mesh Abdominal Closure
Another patient had an open operation for his ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm more
than ten years ago, but was complicated by abdominal compartment syndrome at the time,
necessitating laparotomy and multiple operations. Eventually he had a mesh for his abdominal
wound closure.
Although the wound dried up and eventually healed, this patient was left with a rather un-
sightly anterior abdominal wall, with a large incision hernia. The hernia was large with no risk
of strangulation, and therefore he was treated conservatively.
