After the embolectomy, the arteriotomy was closed with 6/0 (#000000) prolene sutures.
Arteriotomy closed with
6/0 prolene sutures.
Prolene sutures are sterile non-absorbable monofilament surgical sutures
composed of an isotactic crystalline stero-isomer of polypropylene. The#0
refers to the diameter of the suture, and 6/0 prolene has a diameter of
0.07mm, whereas a 2/0 prolene, for instance, has a diameter of 0.3mm.
These smooth, non-absorbable sutures are the standard sutures used for
48 most vascular anastomoses. 49
