The left foot was well perfused after the procedure, with palpable left femoral,
popliteal, dorsalis pedis and posteriotibial pulses.
Iliac stenting
Timely intervention can salvage the leg, and if the calf was soft after the procedure, this
was no need for fasciotomy. In this patient, atrial fibrillation was the obvious cause of
emboli. Patient should have anticoagulation with either warfarin or non-vitamin K
antagonist oral anticoagulants or novel oral anticoagulants (NOACs) long term to
prevent recurrent emboli.
iliac PTAS.mp4
This patient has a tight R external iliac artery stenosis and intermittent claudication. He
was treated with a simple transfemoral angioplasty and balloon expandable stent. This
angiogram showed the pre-operative images, results after PTA alone, and final angio-
gram with the balloon expandable stent deployed.
