Deeper burn wounds are usually under-
perfused on near infra-red spectroscopy,
surrounded by hyperperfused (i.e. hyperaemic)
regions.
The deeper burn wound is shown as darker region
on the imaging. Those region needs debridement
and skin grafting.
The machine can convert the degree of
fluorescence of the burn wound relative to that of
normal skin quantitatively, so as to give a more
objective assessment.
