Surgical management of
lymphedema
Debulking surgery is the resection or removal of
excess lymphedematous tissue
Liposuction of limbs : lymphedema would lead
to hypertrophy of adipose tissue
Simple procedure used to reduce
circumferential size of upper or lower limbs,
with reduction in infection episodes
Usually reserved for non-pitting lymphedema
Charles : deep fascial excision followed by skin
graft reconstruction
