Anteriorly, it is bound by the nasal septum. Posteriorly, it consists of the prevertebral muscle and
fascia, as well as the clivus and the first 2 cervical vertebrae. The lateral wall is formed by the
fossa of Rosenmuller and the Eustachian tube orifice and its surrounding torus tubarius.
