External carotid artery provides blood supply to the nasopharynx and the venous drainage is
through the pharyngeal plexus. Cranial nerves V2, IX, X and sympathetic nerves innervate the
nasopharynx. The region is richly supplied by lymphatics and the first echelon lymph nodes are
located in the parapharyngeal and retropharyngeal space. Decussation of lymphatic drainage is
common.
