Oral cavity cancer is commonly found in patients with chronic tobacco and alcohol consumption.
Majority of oral cavity cancers are squamous cell carcinoma.
Comprehensive clinical, endoscopic and radiological examination are warranted for accurate
diagnosis and staging of disease.
Surgical resection with adequate resection margins +/- adjuvant treatment is the mainstay of
treatment in oral cavity cancers. Reconstruction may be warranted after surgical extirpation of
tumours in the oral cavity.
Treatment plan should be tailored to individual needs for the best oncological and functional
outcomes.
