Drug Abuse
An intravenous drug user was injecting crushed tablet of midazolam maleate mixed
with water into his popliteal vein. The mixture which contained small drug powder
was injected inadvertently into the popliteal artery. He had severe pain shooting down
the leg to his feet. The pain worsened and he presented with gangrenous patches of
skin a few days later to the Accident and Emergency Department.
