Celiac Axis Stent
A 50-year old man complained of chronic epigastric discomfort for years, without relationship
to meals. After numerous investigations he was labelled to have median arcuate ligament
compression of the celiac axis and underwent a CA stent in private.
Median arcuate ligament syndrome is very difficult to diagnose and stents may not relieve the
symptoms. In this patient the celiac axis stent occluded shortly after the procedure and subse-
quently fractured. There was no improvement of his symptoms. The stent impinges onto the
wall of the artery and no endovascular options is available for salvage.
