Post-operative CT scan showed adequate covering of the entry tear and
decompression of the false lumen. The patient recovered well subsequently.
Celect™ Platinum Inferior Vena Cava Filter
An IVC Filter can be introduced in the infrarenal IVC via the transfemoral or
transjugular route via a small access sheath. It expands and fixes in the IVC and traps
large thrombus from lower limb veins to prevent pulmonary embolism. Main
indications are recurrent pulmonary embolism despite adequate coagulation, or
patients with proximal DVT with contraindication to anticoagulation. There are less
rigid, prophylactic indications for IVC filters such as in multi-trauma patients in the
West. It is NOT a treatment for acute DVT.
Complications such as migration and perforation had been reported. Modern filters
28 are retrievable facilitated by the hook at the top once the high risk period has past. 29
