Trachea
Resultant defect after MR and PLCE: the tongue base (TB) is retracted at the head-end. The cut
end of the CE is retracted by four silk stitches. Anterior to the CE is the trachea through which
a laryngectomy tube is inserted for ventilation. Posteriorly the prevertebral fascia (PVF) is
exposed. After bilateral neck dissection, the submandibular gland (SMG), carotid artery (CA),
and internal jugular vein (IJV) can be seen bilaterally.
