Defect after MR and PLCE: thyroid glands
(THY) are preserved bilaterally. A ruler is
used to measure the length of PE defect OP
from the oropharynx (OP) down to the
gastric tube (retracted by silk stitches).
Since there is posterior tracheal wall

invasion, a length of trachea is resected. The
short tracheal stump is brought out to the
overlying chest wall skin after transposition
beneath the brachiocephalic artery (BA).
This is to reduce tension between the BA
anterior tracheal wall and overlying skin, and BV
of the trachea on the BA which in turn can Trachea
lead to pressure necrosis and blowout
bleeding.
