CNVII
Facial nerve (CNVII) innervates muscles of
facial expression as shown on the right.
CNVII palsy is associated with significant
disfigurement and impairment in quality of
life.
The challenge in the surgical treatment of
parotid gland tumours is the ability to
preserve CNVII integrity and function whilst
ascertaining oncological clearance.
