Phlegmasia Cerulea Dolens
This is a severe form of deep vein thrombosis often being mistaken as an acute
lower limb ischaemia.
Acute iliofemoral DVT that causes a major blockage of the venous outflow.
Increase in venous pressure causes fluid accumulation in the interstitial space.
Pressure is built up within the fascial compartment. Subsequently arterial
66 perfusion is affected.
