            He was started on low molecular weight heparin and offered an operation:
            IVC filter insertion + endovascular thrombectomy +/- stenting.  Early venous
            thrombectomy may provide symptom relieve and preserve long term venous

            function and reduces the risk of post-thrombotic syndrome.
