                                                                         very dilated, with shadow of the dis-
                                                                         section flap visualized into the aortic
                                                                         arch and descending aorta.


                                                                         Emergency open replacement of the
                                                                         ascending aorta and aortic valve (Ben-

                                                                         tall operation) was performed success-
                                                                         fully for this patient under cardiopul-
                                                                         monary bypass.


                                                                         Once the blood flow can be realigned
                                                                         into the true lumen (which re-ex-
                                                                         pands), the false lumen pressure may
                                                                         often be neutrolized and the end
                                                                         organ ischemic effect reversed.



                                                                         In this patient his left lower limb is-
                                                                         chemia improved after proximal aortic
                                                                         surgery and no intervention was nec-
                                                                         essary.
