Cleft lip nose deformities
Cleft lip is associated with nasal deformities.
The common nasal deformities features:
Deviated nasal spine, columella, and
nasal septum towards the cleft side
Separation of depressed alar cartilage at
dome of nasal tip
Alar base displaced cephalic and
posterior
Dislocation of upper lateral cartilage
from lower lateral cartilage
Shortened columella
Indication for surgical correction mainly is
cosmesis and the aim is to achieve
symmetry
Option of primary rhinoplasty (during initial
cleft lip repair) and secondary rhinoplasty
(until adolescence )
