Cleft palate repair
(palatoplasty)
The aim of palatoplasty is to repair the cleft
prior to speech development and to prevent
reflux into nasal cavity by separating nasal
from oral cavity.
Palatoplasty is usually performed between 9
to 12 months of age.
There are many techniques available
including Von Langenbeck, Veau-wardill
Kilner (V-Y pushback) , and Furlow
palatoplasty (Double opposing Z-plasty) .
