Cleft palate repair



        (palatoplasty)





           The aim of palatoplasty is to repair the cleft

              prior to speech development and to prevent

              reflux into nasal cavity by separating nasal

              from oral cavity.






           Palatoplasty is usually performed between 9

              to 12 months of age.






           There are many techniques available

              including Von Langenbeck, Veau-wardill

              Kilner (V-Y pushback) , and Furlow

              palatoplasty (Double opposing Z-plasty) .
