HUMAN PAPILLOMAVIRUS (HPV)
HPV-associated OPC is a separate disease
entity compared with conventional smoking
and drinking associated OPC.
Patients are typically young and functional,
presenting with big cystic cervical nodes and
small primaries hidden within the tonsillar
tissue crypts in the oropharynx.
TORS has an increasingly important role in
the diagnosis of early OPC with a detection
rate of up to 80%. Furthermore, it offers a
chance of cure and treatment de-
intensification.
