Supra-omohyoid neck dissection is
conventionally performed via an upper neck
skin crease incision.
Nowadays, it can be performed via a retro-
auricular trans-hairline incision with robotic
surgical assistance.
In positioning the scar to the posterior neck,
dermal lymphatics over the anterior and
lateral neck is preserved. The lack of
lymphoedema and visible scar leads to Supra-omohyoid neck dissection via a retro-auricular
improved aesthetic and functional outcomes. trans-hairline incision. The scar is hidden behind the
ear (which is retracted) and within the posterior
hairline (which is shaved).
