In patients with confirmed cervical nodal
metastasis during clinical and radiological
assessment i.e. cN+ve disease, neck
dissection is performed to remove levels
I-V cervical lymph nodes. T

Radical neck dissection is defined by
removal of levels I-V cervical lymph nodes,
spinal accessory nerve (CNXI), internal
jugular vein (IJV) and sternocleidomastoid On completion of radical neck dissection, the CNXI, IJV
muscle (SCM). This results in extensive and SCM are removed. Photo shows the trapezius
operative and functional morbidities. muscle (T), brachial plexus (B), phrenic nerve (P), vagus
nerve (V) and carotid artery (C).
