Why do we need a right posterior section graft?
Let's look at the table below which showed the volumetry of left
lobe, right lobe and right posterior section from the same donor.
If the left lobe is used, it will not be enough for the recipient to
ensure good outcome (<40% of estimated standard liver volume).
If the right lobe is used, the remnant will not be enough for the
donor (only 27% of donor's current liver).
If the right posterior section is used, both the donor and the
recipient will have a good size for the best outcome.
