Diabetic Foot Toe Gangrene







            A 62-year-old gentleman,

            with a history of poorly
            controlled diabetes for

            more than 10 years,

            presented with painful left
            big toe gangrene. His

            random glucose at
            admission was above 18

            mmol/l. There was no

            sensation and movement
            of the toe. His foot was

            warm with strong dorsalis

            pedis and posterior tibial
            pulses.























                                                                       In dry gangrene, there is a

                                                                       clear line of demarcation.
                                                                       Also associated with nail

                                                                       changes and hair loss





                                                                       An ulcer can be seen at the sole

                                                                       of the left foot, which is a typical
                                                                       location of arterial ulcers—

                                                                       pressure dependent area
