Diabetic foot is a long-standing
        complication of diabetes
        mellitus. It results from the

        combination of peripheral
        arterial disease and peripheral
        neuropathy. This case scenario
        illustrates how vitally important

        glycaemic control is to minimise
        cardiovascular complications.

As vascular surgeons, it is crucial
        to include risk factors
        modifications in the

        management of our patients.
        This includes optimising blood
        pressure, lipid and glycaemic

        control, smoking cessation and
        exercise training.
