Desmoid tumour

 Also known as desmoid-type fibromatosis,

aggressive fibromatosis

 A locally aggressive monoclonal fibroblastic

proliferation that arises in the deep soft

tissues

 Characterised by infiltrative growth and a

tendency towards local recurrence but an

inability to metastasise

 5–10% arise in the context of familial

adenomatous polyposis (FAP)

 Gardner’s syndrome
