Secondary lymphedema
Causes of secondary lymphedema includes
the following:
Lymph node dissection and radiotherapy
are common iatrogenic cause
Infective causes like Wuchereria Bancrofti
leading to secondary lymphedema is the
commonest cause worldwide, but it is
uncommon in Hong Kong
Neoplastic causes include intra-abdominal
tumour or malignant lymph nodes can lead
to obstruction and compression of
lymphatic drainage which can result in
secondary lymphedema .
