TREATMENT PRINCIPLES
Surgery is the mainstay treatment in the management of oral cavity cancer.
Surgery entails surgical resection of primary tumour in the oral cavity and cervical lymph nodes.
Surgical reconstruction may be required for replacement of resected tissue, and for coverage and
protection of vital structures.
Adjuvant treatment in the form of radiotherapy +/- chemotherapy may be indicated in selected
patients to further optimize oncological control.
